Bad Lighting...

I am going to tell you a story about my daughter and our hair adventures!  As many of you know the school year has started up and just like most people we have been busy getting ready by; shopping for supplies, clothes, and getting new hairstyles!  My daughter is a natural blonde like her Mama; she decided she wanted to do a darker blonde with dark brown low lights...sounds easy enough I am pretty good with hair.  So we went to the store and got started with the help of my Mom.  When it was all finished she loved it; her friend did as well!  Her hair was new and exciting, a very cool look for the first day of 8th grade!  She goes to Cheer practice the day before her first day and about 10 of the cheerleaders asked if she had dyed her hair BLUE! WHAT!?!?  She came out of practice upset about her hair and told me what was going on.  The florescent lights in her school was magnifying a small undertone of blue from the brown.  My parents saved the day with a box of Color OOPS, and a late night haircut she was back to her confident self and ready for 8th grade!

Gotta love small towns!

I love living in a small town; we take family walks and our kids play outside without us having to worry a lot.  We know our neighbors and always run into someone we know at the grocery store.  I am a small town kind of girl!  The school year is starting (tomorrow) and that mean Old Settlers day is here!  My family LOVES Old Settlers Day; we watch the parade and the talent show ride carnival rides and my favorite Roasted Corn!  The craft show is always a lot of fun to walk around; this is year it will be even more exciting because Nerium will have a booth!  I cannot wait to introduce Nerium to my small town!  I believe in this product it has turned my skin into a thing of beauty!  No more large pores for this Mama; thanks to NeriumAD my pores are small, my skin is even, my laugh lines are diminishing, and I have what many have renamed the "Nerium Glow"!  I am 31 and I look 20 which by the way is how I feel!  Nerium is allowing me to live my life, and raise my family how my husband and I have always wanted.  Nerium is building our future and making our dreams become reality!  Thanks Nerium!

Two Life Paths...

There is no true straight line; everything is changing-including your life.  If you're not increasing; you're decreasing.  Your life is on a journey; your life's path is on a curve.  The curve can go two ways either upward or downward.  That's all up to you; which will you choose?  Everyday begins a new day and all days are different.  They may seem the same but don't be fooled; that is a slight curve either pulling you upward or downward.  Success is achieved by those who choose the upward path.

If you are going to commit to owning your own business you need to choose the upper curve and know that there will be quit a few Negative Nellie's out there.  You need to be careful you do not become one of them; they way you do this is you work hard and accept responsibility.  Taking responsibility keeps you in power of what happens to you.  When something goes wrong and you blame someone else it does two things.  One it makes it hard for you to correct the problem because you are pushing it off onto someone else.  Two it gives your power away; when you lose your power, and blame others you slip into that downward slope towards failure.

I choose the path less traveled; the path few take I know it will be hard, I also know it will be rewarding.  Starting from here on out I will take responsibility for what happens to my Nerium Business!  I will not become a Negative Nellie, and I will stay on my upward curve because time will be a friend and never my enemy!

7 Slight Edge Principles

The first Slight Edge Principle is a simple one to do but also very easy not to do...Show Up.  No matter what your goal in life is you have to be willing to show up.  In the beginning that is very easy; you are excited and pumped you get in a great routine whether it is going to the gym, doing laundry, or in my case writing my blogs daily for my Nerium Business!  It is simple to do; it really is, but it is also very simple not to do....I can do it tomorrow....and so it begins.  Tomorrow will come and all of a sudden the fire you had behind you is gone it might be a small flicker and you know what it wont even hurt you that day for you to slack off.  It does hurt your motivation though, it makes it easier to push it off again.  I am getting in the habit of making a blog post everyday..or at least posting about Nerium everyday.  It is paying off BIG time!  friends are noticing and people are asking me about my skin, then asking about the business!  The reason why our work out plan fails, laundry piles sky high, or our business sometimes fails is because while we slacked off and took the break; others kept on and never quit. They kept SHOWING UP!

 

The second Slight Edge Principle is Consistency.  While we want to make sure we show up everyday we also want to put the effort in what we want to achieve every time!  When I started using NeriumAD I wanted to see the results of my skin changing.  I am an inpatient person at times; I needed to remind myself I while my skin felt softer, my results would only come if I used it everyday!  I remember one night I went to sleep; I had a long exhausting day my head hurt and I literally crashed into my pillow!  I rubbed my eyes and immediately remembered that I forgot to take my make-up off and use my NeriumAD.  It would have been so much easier for me to stay in bed and leap into dream land; my skin would have been fine also.  What could one day do?  Then I started thinking I want to see my results though and if I do this everyday I will see them soon!  As I padded into the bathroom I was tired and cold but the next morning I felt happy I took the time to be consistent!  Consistency is key to anything we do in life it doesn't mean we have to be boring or predictable, it means we are reliable and committed in whatever it is we want to achieve! 

The third Slight Edge Principle is having a Good Attitude!  If you have a good attitude does it mean EVERYTHING is going to go your way?  NO!  Having a good attitude just makes it easier to cope with; we are going to hit road blocks in life that's the way it is.  Successful people see challenges as opportunities to be better.  Nay-Sayers are my road blocks with Nerium; I could choose to believe what they say or I can choose to prove them wrong!  I am proving them wrong!  Nerium is an amazing company with an amazing product!  If I let other negativity rub off on me my success with my company would not be what it is today, my negativity would rub off onto others and they would not want to see what Nerium is all about.  I choose to stay positive and that makes people take notice in what I am doing!  

The fourth Slight Edge Principle is be Committed for a long period of time.  Like many things we start in the beginning it is easy to do we get in a habit and it usually pays off!  Much like consistency being committed is very important.  When you make that decision to start your own business you need to know it isn't going to be overnight success.  Nerium International is a real business opportunity for those who are truly committed in working hard!  I know that I am building from the ground up; I know that I will have to work hard in order to see my future goals come true!  Because I realize this I am committed for the long haul...many fail themselves because they have unrealistic goals; you will not make millions in a month...over time it is very possible!  Be committed for a long period of time nothing worth while happens with little effort!

10 Pages A Day..

In my younger years I hated reading; I was always on the go, the youngest of three I felt like I needed to prove I could keep up with my Sister and Brother!  School was the same I always wanted to be part of sports, dance, and cheer.  I never wanted to settle down long enough to read a book let alone a magazine.  Starting in Middle School and High School the teachers would require us to read stories and do reports...I HATED this!  It was always so boring to me, the book never appealed to me!  Once I was graduated and started a family of my own I wanted to read to my children and realized while most parents would read their favorite childhood stories...I really didn't have any.  My parents read to me but like I said I was always on the go didn't have time for that!  Slowly I began to find favorites that I would read to my little ones, The Adventures of Frog and Toad, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and so on.  I still never read a book for myself though, until...and don't laugh...Twilight.  Yup, Twilight came out and I found myself lost in the world of Vampires!  My brother came over and saw I had a book in my hand and said....

"Whoa look at this Mandy the little Book Worm!"

I laughed about it but he was right, it was pretty crazy how fast I went from hating to read, to completely lost in a book!  I went to the store that night and bought the next two books because I couldn't put it down and wanted to know what happened next!  After that series, I felt sad because it was over, and I found another series that swept me away again, The Mortal Instruments!  I realized everyone can be a Book Worm if you find something that appeals to you!  I was 25 when I realized I enjoyed getting lost in a different reality.  These books helped me escape to a different world other than mine!

Now I am 31 I still love getting lost in my stories...I don't care how old I get I will always love Paranormal Romances!  About 2 years ago I began the journey into starting my own business with Nerium International, I told you before at first I kind of slacked off...big mistake on my part but I am over it and onto new things!  In my kit came a book called The Slight Edge written by Nerium's founder Jeff Olson.  Well this book wasn't Paranormal Romance; so it didn't appeal to my eyes....at first.  Once I started really getting into my business and building Nerium on a daily basis; I decided to check out this book I heard so much about!  I realized this wasn't the type of book to get lost in and escape my world, but one to read a chapter a day and let change my life!  This book is changing the way I think (my philosophy) it stays with me in everything I do and I am noticing my family and my business is becoming stronger, through the lessons I am learning from The Slight Edge!  Some books let you escape and play pretend in your mind, and others like The Slight Edge change your life and stay with you forever!  I have made a goal to read 10 pages of a "good" book everyday...I am starting with The Slight Edge!  I am going to post about what I am learning and how this is helping my family and my Nerium Business!

While I was at Church this morning our Pasteur opened up with an amazing phrase that gave me the idea for this blog tonight!  He said ” Every challenge brings about a change; every change brings about growth “.  Anything worth while started with some sort of challenge.  Look back through your life; from the moment you were born you have been striving for something more, learning to walk was your challenge you would start scooting around and eventually crawling.  One brave day you pulled yourself up and started to shift your weight to walk that was succeeding, that was your growth.  Growth means pursuing something that does not exist….yet.  We are going to come across a lot of different challenges in our life; some challenges we set for ourselves and others that we have no control over.  It is how we handle those unexpected challenges that really make us who we are and determines how much we change and grow.  In any business you set out to build you have challenges.  Personal challenges are easier than the uncontrollable challenges; such as roadblocks you might come across, negativity.  We need to realize even though we are excited about our business and have all these goals planned out; not everyone will believe in them as much as we do.  They might try to talk us out of it or even have so much negativity that it rubs onto us.  We need to just remember why we started this in the first place.  For me I started with Nerium International to truly build a financially free future for me and my family.  I know I have the heart to make this happen as long as I look at my challenges with an open mind.  I am not going to be rich tomorrow; that’s not even my goal.  My challenge is being consistent, finding my audience, and having the patience…the change is happening daily.  I am started to see real interest daily from people who are curious about what I am doing, or what I am using on my skin!  My growth is slowly starting to rise.  The financially free future does not exist today for me; however I can see it in my near future as long as I accept to face my challenges head on and not run away from the change.
